About Miguel Cardenas

Hello my name is Miguel F Cardenas and I am very pleased with my reception here in Mt Horeb at New Beginnings Chiropractic. It seems we have become more of a wellness center (than just a chiropractic clinic) with all that we have to offer: Chiropractic, massage and acupuncture. I was born in 1972 at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison and since then I have travelled to several different places in my life and met a wide variety of personalities/people. I enjoyed all of it and wouldn't change a thing. I am glad to be back in WI where my roots are located. I have family that I know of that goes back to the early 20th century in the Cross Plains and Waunakee areas. My mother's maiden name is Ripp, so that may ring some bells for more than a few of you.  My mother tells me that if I meet someone named Ripp, more than likely we're related. - I laughed out loud at that. 
   

I returned here to the Middleton, Madison, Cross Plains, Mt. Horeb etc. area in late August of 2006. I have since then been busy building up the wreck of a house that I (along with my wife and mother in law) bought in Cross Plains, Sept of 2006. It's got great bones, but the guts need help and have received just that from me and my wife and mother in law (who moved here with us.) and two sons. For the past 12 years prior to October 2006, I lived in Albuquerque NM. By the time I graduated from Southwest Acupuncture College in 2005 I decided it was time to leave Albuquerque now or I never would. Despite the fact that Albuquerque is rapidly closing in on 1,000,000 people it's the biggest small town you could ever be in. I was developing roots there and knew that staying longer would just prolong and make more difficult the undeniable urge in me to return here. So, HERE I AM! For the last year, actually 1 FULL year as of November 2007 I have been busy building my practice in Madison in the Quarry Arts building and enjoying it immensely! I learned of NB Chiropractic through a few acupuncturist colleagues and then answered the Craigslist ad on November 4th, met Dr. Brenda, then Dr. Joe and that was it. I think they're both great, I like the space they're in, it's very uplifting and comfortable and I have met some business owners as well as done some shopping in Mt. Horeb and really like the place.
   

So more about me and my family; I have a Master's Degree in the Science of Oriental Medicine that took me four years and 3,000 hours to acquire, I am married now coming up on 9 years to my wife, Mindy who is an Art Therapist with an office in Madison at Moontree Psychotherapy. We have two sons, Zackary 16 years old (almost 17 - Feb 08) and our youngest son, Aidan 3 years old (almost 4 in Feb 08 as well). Zack attends Middleton HS and likes anything medieval and reading manga and fantasy novels. Aidan will be attending preschool here soon in Middleton and likes Buzz Lightyear (esp. his Buzz Lightyear costume) and running away whenever either Mindy or I say "come here". And currently Mindy is about 10 weeks pregnant with what we think may be a little girl (right now she is very little - hee hee). Either gender, we hope/expect that he or she will be healthy. Currently we live in Cross Plains, which is a decent little town, but with as happy as everyone seemed to be to meet me when Dr. Brenda walked me around Mt Horeb, I may convince my wife and family to move to Mt. Horeb in a couple years. - we'll see.
   

One of the things that I would like to impress upon you as you read this bio is my gratitude to you for taking the time to read this about me, because time is precious and the other item is that I LOVE what I do. When I first encountered an acupuncture school recruiter back in Nov 2001, I IMMEDIATELY knew that I desired to be an acupuncturist for the rest of my life and that with the time proven (as well as more recently by hard scientific methods) efficacy of acupuncture that I could do it for the rest of my life. Thus far I am pleased, amazed and grateful at being given the opportunity to help so many people on their return to balance, health and wellness. So thank you and I look forward to helping Mt. Horeb and some of the nearby areas (Blanchardville and Barneveld, etc.). Again, Thank You.
