Toggle-Recoil One
of the oldest chiropractic techniques, this is a very specific adjustment to the
upper cervical area. Specific x-ray analysis and instrumentation, along with palpation
of the neck area, help the doctor determine if this area needs to be adjusted.
The patient lies on their side on a special table with their head on a slightly
elevated headpiece. A quick and specific thrust is delivered to the side of the
neck that faces up. The headpiece also has a quick drop that falls away when the
doctor adjusts the patient, which ensures patient comfort. Upper cervical adjustments
are very powerful and can help a variety of problems. The brainstem sits in the
area between the occiput and top two cervical vertebrae (atlas at the top, axis
is below). This is the opening for the entire spinal cord to pass through, so
misalignments here can have a profound effect on other areas in the body. The
upper cervical area is often injured during childbirth, especially when vacuum
or forceps are used. This may lead to many problems after birth, such as colic.
An adjustment to this area in an infant can have great results almost instantly!
A modified version is used, with a special head piece for the baby to rest their
head on, and there is virtually no force! It is very safe and effective! For more
